#130: PIN Diode 3rd order Intermodulation Distortion (IMD) vs. bias current – how to measure

This is a followup from my PIN Diode Introduction video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpYsCM_Wf50 />This shows the third order intermodulation distortion, or IMD products generated by the PIN diode due to non-linearities versus the bias current through the device. Measurements are made a one set of frequencies and RF signal level just to show an example of the measurements and basic results. Of course, the IMD of a PIN diode will be dependent upon RF power level, operating frequency, bias current, and the particular diode characteristics. I’m using the spectrum analyzer of the Tektronix MDO4104B-6 Mixed Signal Oscilloscope to make the distortion measurements.
