After a lot of practice, this is how I update my firmware in the Icom IC-7300. It’s a simple 5 minute procedure.

1. Format SD card if necessary. I do a format anyway just to be safe.
2. Save your settings to the SD card.
3. Copy the new firmware from your PC or Mac to the SD card IC-7300 folder!
4. Update firmware.
5. Reload your settings.
