In this video we discuss the Baofeng UV82L, its best feature (Dual PTT), and who can make use of this excellent functionality.
This is the next video in the Budget Survival Comms series. Its focus is Dual PTT as found on the Baofeng UV82L, and related accessories. The UV82L Dual PTT allows the user to activate VFO A using PTT A, and VFO B using PTT B. This is designed to reduce the workload on radio operators, who need to communicate with multiple groups, across two frequencies, without fumbling around with changing the VFO setting on a radio.
The Baofeng UV82L achieves this by providing separate PTT switches for both VFO’s on the radio. There are also dual PTT on the included headset, and the optional speaker microphone.
The UV82L is a game changer. It is the best budget alternative from Baofeng for the vulnerable yet unimaginably popular UV5R…
This is a classic Kenwood feature, taken directly from their dual band HT radios, but implemented in a TEA Dual Comm sort of way. To maximize the effectiveness of this Dual PTT radio, I would like Baofeng come out with a PTT with open connections for interfacing an MSA Sordin and Peltor headset.
Finally, I always want to stress that if you have the budget to do so, and youre willing to invest the time and energy, a technical class amateur radio licence, and a Yause VX or FT series radio, will be a far greater investment in the long run.
As always, thanks for watching
