Can I operate amateur radio from the base of a valley?

On this trip I head to the lowest place I could get too which was off grid (no mobile data or signal) in reasonably time with the aim to operate HF radio. I wanted to test my ability to make contacts and to use Winlink email via amateur radio especially where there is no mobile phone signal. In fact during the video you can hear my mobile seeking signals with the occasional mobile noise coming through the microphone…sorry about that!
