Here is my experience installing my Ft-8800 in my new 2022 Tesla Model Y. I built up a box to house the battery, RF unit and buck/boost controller which is used these components in the back of the car. There is space in the box to house the control head, interconnect cable, mic and speaker. This box has two RF jumpers to mount an antenna on the outside and make it a portable unit. Copper foil covers the top of the box to provide a ground plane in case the radio is used away from the car.
