ICOM IC-7200 speaker – internal vs external

My new ICOM IC-7200. One of the criticisms of the radio by some operators is the bad audio quality of the small internal speaker. I think it sounds great, especially for a small front firing speaker. The external speaker is a 4″ MFJ Clear Tone speaker that I find is often better than internal speakers on the transceivers with more high frequencies. The internal speakers usually sound bassier. Of course a large external speaker like the ICOM or Kenwood would probably sound the best of all.

The reason ICOM put the speaker on the front is for the transceiver’s intended use for portable, emmcom, and mobile use where the front of the radio might be the only part not covered up.
