While my FTdx5000MP Limited is at Yaesu, getting the CAT port repaired, I went back to my previous radio of 20 years, the FT-920. Bit trying to hear some of the “ghost” stations I am accustomed to chasing has been difficult. I have been spoiled by the low noise floor in the FTdx5000MP, not to forget the APF, DNR, Contour, and Manual Notch Filter. So, I thought, why not take the FT-891 out of my backpack (my SOTA rig) and make it a temporary base station. Wow! The receiver in this little guy is no slouch either. I shot a video a few months ago showcasing the FT-891 receiver. In this video, I want to focus on the famous MD-100 desk microphone, and how easy it is to connect it to the FT-891. I hope you find this helpful.
