Let me start by saying i’m a huge yaesu fanboy. Having owned and operated several radios from their product lineup from UHF, VHF, and several of their HF radios including new FT1000 back in the 90’s to the new FTdx101D when it first came out. I ended up recently buying this Yaesu FTdx10 that has a born on date of Feb 2022. Upon first power up I noticed a glitch on the right hand side of the screen. the radio was “seeing” full scale pulses which shows up in the spectrum scope as well as the waterfall. There are more and more reports of ftdx10’s having this issue. One customer sent his radio to Yaesu not once, but twice in which yaesu said they could not duplicate the problem. I emailed yaesu and they responded saying it wasn’t an issue with the radio, but that it was an issues with my environment. At the beginning of this video, the first clip was recorded when I took this radio to a different environment and powered it up using a different linear power supply and was connected to a 50-ohm dummy load. As you can see the problem is with the radio, and not the environment. The real “issue” I have with yaesu is when they copied the EXACT same email they sent to me, and pasted it to another customer the following day (typos included). It seems Yaesu may be aware of this “glitch” but chooses to sweep it under the rug at this time. To add insult to injury, you have to pay to ship the radio to yaesu, in which they will turn it on for a few minutes, say there’s nothing wrong with it, and then the radio sits for a MONTH before it gets shipped back. Thanks to Tim Factor (yaesu technical support) for helping me make my decision to purchase my future communications equipment from a different manufacturer. 73.
